Are you smarter than an ape? Meet Kanzi: Des Moines' Minecraft-playing bonobo. He's determined, smart and outgoing; you can find him playing on the computer, watching an action movie or chomping on a celery stick in the greenhouse: He's Kanzi, the bonobo who plays Minecraft.

Kanzi turns 40 on October 28th! Ape Initiative is the only research facility in the world dedicated to the study and conservation of the species most closely related to our own – the endangered bonobo. Our top priority is to provide the best care possible to our entire bonobo family.

The chimpanzees, who already had experience with the joystick and similar virtual reality games, were given five to 10 sessions to review how the game worked. Throughout the game, players had to search through alleys and peek around the corners of "brick" walls, looking for the goal.

Monkeys are Passive Mobs in minecraft that only spawn in Jungles and Taigas (Snow Monkey). There are four types and they are all tameable (especially Capuchin Monkeys) by using Bananas or other Things found on trees.
